EPIC MALIBU
Epic Malibu definitely did not disappoint with it's stunning beaches and scenery. I opted to shoot at one of Malibu's more exclusive beaches, "El Matador". I rented a super chic Air BNB home just up the street from where I wanted to do the shoot.
I recall shooting a model that was in the very active water...and the shot was absolutely amazing. I was using one light with a battery pack, and I was so focused on the model and what I was shooting, that I wasn't paying attention to the water. Low and behold, a big wave came right over me, and nearly took me out! I was able to keep my camera out of the big part of the splash, and one of the models came running up behind me and grabbed my camera during the wipeout!
Once I got settled again, I took my camera, looked at it, and realized that my screen had gone completely black- it had been hit by the wave too. I was stunned. However, my light was still firing, and I knew what I was doing! I kept on shooting, even though I couldn't see what I was shooting!
We got back to the location afterwards, and downloaded the images onto my laptop and they were the most gorgeous beach shots I feel I have ever taken. Just so happened, that those shots were the very last shots I had taken for that shoot, and it was a wrap! GOD had his protective hands on me that day, and I am so grateful for the Epic Malibu shoot and the models!
On this shoot I used 2 Alien Bee 1600 strobe lights with 8 inch reflectors on the strobes
